Student Care

Wellbeing First, Always

The well-being of our students is our top priority. We offer a robust, caring support system designed to nurture each learner’s academic, emotional, and personal development. Our pastoral care approach includes form teachers, year-level deans, SENCO, guidance staff, and a peer support programme that encourages mentorship and connection. Students benefit from our vertical form system, which strengthens relationships across year levels and fosters a sense of belonging. With the help of tools like the Komodo well-being platform, we track and respond to student needs proactively. At Mackenzie College, no student faces their challenges alone—every young person is supported to thrive.

Wellbeing at the Centre

At Mackenzie College, student wellbeing is central to everything we do. Our dedicated pastoral team—including form teachers, deans, SENCO, and a guidance counsellor—works closely with students to offer individualised support, both academically and personally. With a strong focus on connection and care, we foster a whānau environment where every student feels valued, safe, and supported to reach their full potential.

Support Systems That Make a Difference

Our structure is designed to ensure every learner is seen and supported. Senior students mentor juniors through our vertical form system, while form teachers and deans closely monitor each student’s progress. We use the Komodo wellbeing platform to stay responsive to student needs and have on-site guidance staff ready to connect learners with further support. Our vibrant house system not only builds community but also encourages friendly competition, leadership, and belonging.
