Sports at Mackenzie College

Participation, Performance, and Pride

Sport is a cornerstone of student life at Mackenzie College, where participation is high and school spirit runs deep. We offer a wide range of sporting opportunities—from traditional codes like rugby, netball, basketball, and hockey to individual and adventure sports such as mountain biking, kayaking, and equestrian. Students are encouraged to get involved, try new challenges, and experience the personal growth that comes from competition and teamwork. Our Wednesday afternoon sport programme and strong regional representation make sport accessible and exciting for all. At Mackenzie College, we believe sport builds character, leadership, and lifelong habits of health and resilience.

Striving for Sporting Excellence

We pride ourselves on a culture of active engagement among our students and consistently punch above our weight in both local and national competitions. Mackenzie College offers a diverse range of sporting opportunities, from traditional codes like rugby, netball, hockey, volleyball, and basketball to exciting options such as snowsports, mountain biking, Coast to Coast, equestrian, rock climbing, and kayaking.

Participation and Passion

We believe in empowering students through sport—building resilience, teamwork, and a love for physical activity. Our weekly Wednesday afternoon sport sessions give students the chance to step out of the classroom and try something new. With participation levels among the highest in the region, our students continue to thrive in an environment that celebrates commitment, enjoyment, and healthy competition.
