Leadership

Empowering Tomorrow’s Leaders

Leadership is part of the Mackenzie College DNA. We grow leaders who are confident, compassionate, and ready to make a difference. From Year 7 onwards, students are encouraged to step into leadership roles and build the skills that help them influence and inspire. Opportunities include Head and Deputy Head Student positions, House Captains, Committee Captains, Student Forum representatives, and more. Our leadership camps and events promote teamwork, responsibility, and initiative. We believe that leadership is not about titles—it’s about action, integrity, and service to others. Our students graduate with the courage and capability to lead both in school and beyond.

Inspiring Confident Voices

Mackenzie College has a proud tradition of nurturing exceptional student leaders. Leadership is encouraged and fostered from Year 7 through to Year 13, with students given opportunities to grow through school-led leadership camps, young leaders’ days, and active participation in the life of the college. These experiences help develop confidence, responsibility, and a strong sense of service in our students.

Student Leadership Pathways

A wide variety of leadership roles are available to students, catering to different strengths and interests. These include Head and Deputy Head Students, House Captains, and Committee Captains across key areas such as Art, Culture, Environment, Sport, PB4L, Service, and Magazine. Students can also be part of the School Council, Student Forum (with representatives from Years 7–12), and serve as the Board of Trustees Student Representative or as representatives on various school committees.

“Mā mua ka kite a muri, mā muri ka ora a mua. Those who lead give sight to those who follow, those who follow give life to those who lead.”
